Best MOOC I have done by far (3 in Coursera, 1 in Acumen, 1 in Udacity, 1 un rue89). The team was focus on designing a learning process adapted to the media, to the connected world. The result is a vivid community who asks for more! This is the post I made about this MOOC: http://isayel.net/post/76246819037/design1o1-the-mooc-that-rocks-design1o1-is-a

This is as good as it gets. The Design 101 is by far the best designed and most interactive MOOC. It shines on so many levels.

I have done MOOCs from some of the biggest names in the business but all of them pale by comparison with this one. Of course, it was no surprise for me to discover that a group of very talented and hardworking designers from Milan have put together such an outstanding MOOC.

Instead of the boring videos and readings that other MOOCs have as a staple, everyday we would look forward with anticipation to receiving a video postcard from a different city in the world, together with a "letter" exploring a new design idea and our homework for the day. All in all, we received 1o1 of these. They covered everything from details of designers, their work, quotes, music, movies and more on the same theme. The effort and level of detail that went into the whole MOOC reminded me of one of the sayings from the course from the famous architect Mies van der Rohe, "God is in the details". If the course was about teaching us about design, it led by example.

Design1o1 has several remarkable features like the close knit community that we became, the things we were challenged to learn about and the absolutely fantastic assignments we put together daily. I am totally rapt with the portfolio I developed. The best part for me was the interaction we had with the course Lecturers, who gave freely of their time and energy to support us, delight us and give us invaluable advice via value-added things like weekend workshops. The course culminated in an exhibition in Berlin, Germany. I am blown away. Design 1o1 was the best experience ever! My deepest thanks go to the brilliance, genius, hard work and thoughtfulness of the whole Design Team. As we learnt to say during the course, KissKiss LoveLove from LizzieLaLa! xoxoxoxo

This class was well-planned and thoughtful on a number of levels. Content-wise it was very rich and I learned a huge amount. It provided me with enough reading materials and references to continue learning about the topic and exploring the field after the course's end. The presentation of the course material was extremely creative and made learning a LOT of fun ! Finally it really succeeded in building a very vibrant virtual community of design students, with a lot of constructive exchange and learning taking place between the students themselves, which was one of the course objectives. Overall, it is an excellent course, one that I have been recommending to anyone interested in art or design and even those who aren't ! My rating would be 5 out of 5.

Design 1o1 is one of the best moocs! What makes it different from other moocs that I've taken is its special atmosphere. Teachers of this course are not inaccessible, you don't see them only in the video lectures, they are always around, on the forum and in facebook group, ready to help with advice and express their opinion. Their continuous presence made the students themselves very united, none of the previous courses gave me so many friends as this course. And it's important, yes you get knowledge, yes you develop your skills, but design is people, and when you have lots of friends from different countries who are creative, who inspire you, who share your interests, that's what helps us to move ... Also this course was finished with a great exhibition, where many students could present their works and where participants could meet each other in person, it's rare for moocs, isn't it?!
Thanks)) Knara A...

The class was amazing.. Totally different from other MOOC I've seen. Teacher were so prepared and know a lot about learning dynamics. It was a really intensive experience and I made a lot of good friends all over the word. I don't have previous competencies on Design and I will not in this field but the class gave me more instrument to understand design as amateur but also to understand how to try to re-design my professional life.

Loved loved loved this class. Entertaining videos. Informative and entertaining reading. A lot of hands on homework. Although it is difficult to finish all the assignments, you'll have a great time trying. The facebook arena was a MUST in order to have the creative interaction with other students. The student skill level ranged from no design experience to professional designers and many of us with some hobby skills but working professionals outside of design. I am in the latter group. Although I don't plan on having Design as a career... if I had a course this inspiring twenty years ago, I may have changed my major!

I never took a class that was more fun, where the teachers worked so hard and went trough so much trouble.
It was a life-changing experience for me: I made a lot of friends all over the world, I learned a lot of things , creative as well as intellectual.
The class was very interactive and a real community formed.
I can recommend this course to everyone. Beware however, the workload is heavy, and you'll get hooked very quickly!
