How on earth are animals, architecture, and business related? In this class, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of algebraic principles, many of which you may have seen before, and learn how to use them to solve problems that we encounter in everyday life. You will learn about functions, polynomials, graphing, complex numbers, exponential and logarithmic equations, and much more, all through exploring real-world scenarios. The course can be taken for credit transferable to most colleges and universities nationwide.
I took this course to fill some gaps of knowlegde I had my mathematical knowlegde. The good thing is that you can follow your own schedule and it became a bit of a hobby for me to finish this course as I love learning Maths and because this would be the first MOOC that I finished.
As with all Udacity courses there are a lot of questions and at times I felt that longer vidoes like in Khan Academy would have benefited the course. There were occasions when I did further research to clearly understand the content and to be honest getting an answer from peers was not always easy but the course Tutor was quite active in checking questions and I did get some great replies.
I learnt quite alot from this course and see it as a great steping stone for anyone who wants to get that essential basic Algebra knowledge to pursue higher Mathematical goals. I probably over 80 hours on this course as there are many questions to answer.
I only give it 4 out of 5 as sometimes the format of answers could really frustrate me. For exampe 2x(4+y) would be seen as being correct and (4+y)2x would not. On the plus side its great to have so many questions as this is the best way to remember what you learn.
If you are a maths beginer try out this course or Khan Academy. You will get an excellent grounding and experience.
